HARARE - Afro-fusion artiste Alexio Kawara has postponed the launch of a Christmas special single titled Zvazvinhu to December 24.
The launchwhich was set for this afternoon, has been deferred to allow the Shaina hit-maker to recover from a broken leg he sustained in an accident on Friday.
On the fateful day, Alexio was knocked down as he was crossing the road back to his car after checking on the driver of the vehicle he had bumped into.
Don Gwese, Kawara’s manager said the Christmas Eve launch will give the musician more time to recuperate.
“He really wants to give his fans a Christmas present, so the launch will still go on but on December 24,” said Gwese.
“After he is discharged he needs some time to adjust and rehearse as well. He does not want to go back on his word hence the decision to launch it next week. By then he will be feeling much better,” he said.
Alexio, who is expected to be released from hospital today, wants to use the Zvazvinhu launch to prepare for the launch of a full album next year.
The single features a Beitbridge-based musician called Ell –T.
Alexio was among the first musicians to venture into the “urban grooves” genre.
He later formed a live band that helped develop an Afro-fusion beat.
Alexio’s hit songs include Shaina, Ndinomhanya, Chibvugu-bvugu, Tinodanana and Karwiyo.
