It's show time in Harare

HARARE - Upcoming musicians Mike Mopo and Herbert Majeke will entertain revellers today at the on-going Harare Agricultural Show which kicked off on Wednesday and will run until August 30.

Tomorrow, it will be the turn of sungura musician Peter Moyo, gospel artiste Pianos Jaravaza and a Jah Prayzah sound-alike called Commander to light up Zimbabwe’s biggest agricultural showcase.

On Sunday, the show grounds will host a gospel affair featuring Mathias Mhere, Vabati VaJehovha, Trymore Bande and Alcoz.

H and J Nightclub hosts Bev

Bev will begin her weekend programme tonight with a performance in Zvishavane after which she will entertain music fans at H and J Nightclub in Chikumbamarara area in Seke tomorrow.

On Sunday, Bev is expected to rock Lassy Nightclub in Harare’s Hatcliff suburb.

Humwe yaNehoreka at the Book Cafe

The Book Café will host a fundraising gig for Afro-fusion group Nehoreka, which will represent Zimbabwe next month at the Bayimba Cultural Foundation festival in Uganda.

The fundraiser will feature Bob Nyabinde, Too Open, Simba Saini and Afristorm, Edith weUtonga, Albert Nyathi, Rody and Eskimo Band, Nendoro, Tomas Brickhill, Alfred Nenguwo , Millicent Muchati as well as Nehoreka.

The Book Café weekend programme, however, begins tonight with Mawungira eNharira’s regular Mbira gig on the Book Café Garden stage.

On the Book Café main stage, tonight will be township jazz maestro Tanga WekwaSando who will share the stage with Rute Mbangwa.

At the same joint tomorrow afternoon, Prince Musarurwa and Tendai Mavengeni will take part in the Afro Summer Show.

Peter Moyo celebrates birthday at Airport Lounge

Utakataka Express frontman Peter Moyo, popularly known as Young Igwe, will celebrate his birthday at Airport Lounge tomorrow night.

Moyo turned 25 on Monday. The Young Igwe’s celebratory gig will be accompanied by a Miss Utakataka beauty pageant.

Chimurenga music at Dandaro Inn

Rookie Chimurenga musician Jairosi Chabvonga and his Ngorimba Afro-Fusion Band will perform at Dandaro Inn based in the Harare Showgrounds throughout the weekend. Chabvonga will perform at the venue tonight, Saturday night and Sunday night.
