HARARE - Sounds of Universe, the band that was scheduled to represent Bulawayo Metropolitan Province at this year’s Chibuku Road to Fame national finals set for September 27, has been disqualified “due to an act of misconduct.”
The barring of Sounds of Universe was announced by the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (Nacz) in a statement.
The Bulawayo band, which came out tops at the Chibuku Road to Fame provincial finals held in the City of Kings on July 26, has been replaced by Facebook Brothers which came second in the same category.
“The group has been disqualified for their conduct of bringing the competition into disrepute. Immediately after winning the provincial finals, the group chose to go to the press to
lodge their complaints about the Chibuku Road to Fame finals of 2013 instead of following laid down procedures,” read part of the statement released by Cathrine Mthombeni, the Nacz
communications and marketing officer.
