HARARE - Just a few weeks ago, Dynamos were still in the running for all the three major tournaments thus on offer this season.
But a 1-0 defeat to Black Rhinos in the Chibuku Super Cup first round means tomorrow’s One Wallet Cup semi-final clash and the league title maybe DeMbare’s major hope of silverware this year.
The Glamour Boys currently sit on top of the Castle Premiership table and tomorrow they face How Mine at Mandava Stadium hoping to keep alive their hopes of a league and cup double.
The Harare giants booked their place in the One Wallet Cup semi-finals after a 1-0 victory over rivals CAPS United, while How Mine dispatched Highlanders 7-6 on penalties in the other quarter-final.
And boosted by the return of several injured players, who had been sidelined for a while, coach Callisto Pasuwa was this week in bullish mood ahead of the tie.
“We are ready for the fixture. Some of the players who were injured are back,” Pasuwa said.
“Three quarters of the guys I think they are ready for the match. We are still assessing them for match fitness though.
“We would not want to talk much of our opponents but all I can say is we are ready for the match. This is a cup game and we are saying to the guys, we should be at our best to win.
“Morale is high and maybe we should have to choose from the guys who are ready for the match.
“Having lost to Black Rhinos in the Chibuku first round, we have been telling these guys that if you need money you have to win these matches.
“These are the matches that make them have money in their pockets and it’s the approach that matters going into these games.”
The Glamour Boys also welcome back skipper Murape Murape and striker Roderick Mutuma, who have been suspended following gross insubordination.
The two players were involved in a training ground altercation, leading to their suspension, before the club’s leadership had a change of heart and nullified the ban.
How Mine, who this appointed Luke Masomere as their new coach, will be looking to do a repeat after knocking out DeMbare out of the Mbada Diamonds Cup last season.
