GWERU - Zanu PF-aligned Midlands Chimurenga IV is putting final touches to an eight-track DVD album of songs gleaned from their two recorded albums Gogo Goi Zimbabwe (2011) and Zimbabwe Yangu (2013).

The Gweru group, led by Mambo Zanu PF political commissar John Mutemera, believes music is a powerful weapon that the ruling party will continue to use to put across key messages to all corners of the country.

“The eight-track DVD album which is packed with revolutionary messages will be launched soon,” said Mutemera to the Daily News.

“Our outfit is encouraging the youths to get actively involved in defending the sovereignty of this nation. We will also continue to attack the illegal sanctions that have been imposed on our beloved country.”

The composer of the popular song Guvi reRopa added that his group will never be apologetic for preaching nationalism and the need to stand by the heroes who liberated Zimbabwe from colonialism.

“It is our mission to spread the gospel of patriotism and applaud and honour our departed and living heroes who fought to liberate Zimbabwe,” said Mutemera.

“We chose to use music as an efficient mode of communication because the young generation responds to much more appealing methods of teaching instead of traditional methods that have proved unequal to the task.”

The 10-member ensemble is already working on its third album that seeks to promote the country’s new economic vision.

“Our next album set to be released sometime this year will be titled ZimAsset,” said Mutemera.
