HARARE - Seven-year-old Junior Mwase, who is probably Zimbabwe’s youngest published author, will launch two books at 71 Belvedere Road, Harare tomorrow.
The Selborne Routledge Primary School grade 2 pupil will launch a story book for six to eight-year-olds and a colouring book for pre-school children.
Young Mwase’s book has been published by Creative Publishers.
Derrick Machekera, who runs Creative Publishers, told the Daily News yesterday that Mwase’s case is an exceptional one.
“Mwase is a unique talent,” said Machekera.
“Many people will obviously regard me as crazy to be publishing a seven-year-old’s work but this is an exceptional case. In his story book, there are three short stories in which he describes events in his life.”
According to Mandipa Gusha, the young author’s mother, Junior has always been a very keen reader.
“He was inspired by his teacher when she was teaching him fractions and took a paper and folded it into half and that immediately made Junior think of a book,” she said.
“He asked me for papers because he wanted to write a book even though he is currently in grade 2 at Selborne. That is how the books came about.”
