HARARE - Digital One, the promoters of the tour of the United Kingdom by seven Zimbabwean artistes early next month, say they chose musicians on top of their game.
Soul Jah Love, Freeman, Shinsoman, Guspy Warrior, Seh Calaz, Enock ‘Nox’ Guni and Trevor Dongo will perform in three concerts in Luton, Coventry and Manchester as part of a tour that has been dubbed the Summer Fiesta 2014.
“They will leave Zimbabwe on the 28th of this month and will reach here a day later,” said Calvin Pazvakavambwa, who is jointly promoting the three UK concerts with his brother Luther.
“They will perform in Luton on May 2, then Coventry on May 3 and lastly in Manchester on May 4.”
The Digital One representative is happy with the buzz the forthcoming concerts have created in the Zimbabwean community there.
“We chose them because they are doing well right now. Most of them are on top of their game right now.”
While Freeman, Guspy Warrior, Enock ‘Nox’ Guni and Trevor Dongo have performed in the United Kingdom before, the Summer Fiesta 2014 tour will mark the debut appearances of the dancehall trio of Soul Jah Love, Shinsoman and Seh Calaz.
The presence of dancehall artistes among the seven set to rock the UK, is further proof of the music genre’s ever-increasing popularity.
Freeman, Soul Jah Love, Shinsoman and Seh Calaz have regularly performed in South Africa over the last few months.
Freeman, whose album New Chapta was voted the best album in 2013 at the recent Zim Dancehall Awards, is currently on tour in Australia.
