HARARE - After a turbulent start to the 2014 Castle Premiership season, Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi believes his side have struck the right chord as they prepare for a potentially explosive clash against How Mine at Luveve Stadium this afternoon.
The Sunshine Boys now in their third year in the top flight league endured a tough start to the season losing seven of their opening nine matches.
Mawiwi’s men picked their first set of full points on week seven when they beat Triangle 2-1 at Rufaro Stadium. City picked up their second win of the season with a 3-1 win over Black Rhinos in their last outing.
Harare City go into this clash only a point off bottom place with six points from nine matches.
Mawiwi, however, feels his charges has hit its stride and will come good against Chikurupati.
“The team is now in good shape. I am satisfied with the work rate and the competition in the team,” Mawiwi told Daily News yesterday.
“We played well in our last match but we have to be consistent if we are to be up there. It has not been the start we expected but things are beginning to take shape now.
“We are looking forward to the match against How Mine. Everyone is aware of the task at hand. It’s a tough game yes, but our approach remains the same. We will do our best to get a good result”.
Mawiwi is hoping his players will pick up from where they left when they dismissed army side Black Rhinos 3-1 despite a week long break that paved for Warriors’ Afcon match against Tanzania.
“We have not been winning and when you start picking up points you want to play the next match. I hope the break will not affect our rhythm.
“We have been talking to the players to remain focused. How Mine have been consistent and we really need to be focused throughout the match,” added Mawiwi.
On the other hand, How Mine have a chance to move to the top of the log if they beat Harare City.
The gold miners have 17 points from nine matches and trail log leaders Highlanders by two points. With Highlanders in action 24 hours later, Chikuripati can move to 20 points if they can beat Harare City.
