Bosso drop points again

BULAWAYO – Highlanders yesterday once again dropped points after the goalless draw  with city counterparts How Mine in an uninspiring Castle Premiership match.

Bosso took their number of draws to eight this season while How Mine finally salvaged a point after having gone for four games without a win.

“I think if we look at the way we played in the derbies last season, we dropped so many points and in this year’s derbies we have managed to pick up four points which is an advantage to us as much as we wanted to pick maximum points,” Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu said.

“This is where we lost the championship, failing to beat the lesser teams. But we have managed to pick up four points in two games, we are in the right direction.”

Bosso had the upper hand in the game with most of their efforts at goal either being saved by How Mine goalkeeper Ephraim Mazarura or slightly missing the target.

The first meaningful attempt at goal by Highlanders came on 19 minutes when a quick exchange of passes between returnee Njabulo Ncube and Charles Sibanda saw the latter’s shot at goal from within the box being saved by Mazarura.

Just a minute into the second half, Knox Mtizwa received a pass from Ncube before beating his marker and unleashed a shot at goal which Mazarura parried back into play.

How Mine, however, were not outdone, occasionally showing real intent going forward.

Not even the double substitution by Kaindu of the out of sorts pair of Knox Mtizwa and Valentine Ndaba for Pasca Manhanga and young Godfrey Makaruse respectively could break How Mine’s resilience.
