HARARE - Outstanding players for this year’s BancABC Sup8r Cup yesterday received their individual awards at a function held at the bank’s offices in the capital.
Shabanie Mine captain Tafadzwa Mombeshora, who was voted Player of the Tournament, received a trophy and $1 000 prize money.
There was also a trophy and $1 000 prize money for the Goalkeeper of the Tournament, which went to tShabanie Mine’s Victor Twaliki.
Dynamos’ Russell Madamombe and Tarisai Rukanda of Shabanie Mine shared the $1 000 for the Golden Boot award.
“I am happy to receive this award. It shows my contribution to the team and I am looking forward to score more goals next year,” Madamombe told the Daily News.
“I hope to improve my game at Dynamos next season. This was my first year with DeMbare and although I started slowly, I eventually settled. I was also happy to win the league title with the club.
“Now that we will be playing in the Champions League next season I hope we will do well.”
Shabanie Mine were the eventual winners of BancABC after dismissing town rivals FC Platinum 5-3 on penalty shootout in the final.
